Made of high-grade porcelain in a snow-white base color with tinkles of reflective light. Finely painted line works in scrolling tendrils, floral patterns, endless knots emblems and stylized waveforms on the robe. This classic depiction of Shou Lao, the Star God of Longevity, Canopus, in the constellation Argo. He is a Taoist deity of happiness, prosperity, and longevity. As shown here, the Star God is painted in Chinese traditional motifs, his head is elongated with protruding forehead, beard falls to his waist, with a joyous smiling face; he is holding a longevity peach called P’an-tao, flowering every three thousand years, its peaches ripening in another three thousand years. Gentle and smiling, holding up a gnarled staff from which hangs a gourd of magical elixir, the venerable head is high, with white hair and eyebrows. He is the supreme disposer of earthly things and the eternal ruler of the seasons. With its mythical theme and peaches were strewn over the piece, a celestial lightness pervades on this auspicious statue.
