Vajradhara, the Tantric form of Shakyamuni, who represents the essence of enlightenment, as the primordial Buddha from which all other Buddhas are born. Vajradhara is also considered as the metaphysical equivalent of the Buddha Samantabhadra, who conveys total communion with the infinite. Here in this Nepalese archaic style bronze Buddha, the Bearer of the ThunderBolt is seated in full lotus, his body sways gently with vitality in a youthful countenance, he worn a large majestic crown, two strings of necklaces, ankle bracelets and armbands, with a vajra and a bell in two blooming lotus flowers rising above his shoulders, finely modeled delicate fingers in crossed wrists, displaying a Garuda mudra that symbolizes the union of wisdom and compassion. Astute and powerful, the aged bronze is sealed with an old-style double vajra engraved on an up folded copper plate. Possibly 19th century and it’s in very good condition.
