This large platter has much in common with the Chinese "Famille Verte" style. The central theme features three Bijins in an imperial garden with blooming peonies near and afar framing the green rim, and surrounded by banyan trees and gnarled bonsai boulders in a striking composition. Hand-painted with overglaze colors of red, green, yellow and blue. The five-color (Wucai) style painting is finely rendered with interesting classic use of perspective. Peony, the flower of riches and honor is the central theme of this large platter. The Chinese marking Fuki Choshun written in Kanji characters 富貴長春, meaning Wealth, Nobility, and Everlasting Spring. Interestingly, the two characters Choshun 長春 were written in archaic seal forms.
