An antique Bodhisattva of Compassion is enshrined in a lacquered wood zushi with gilded gold interior walls. The Kannon Bosatsu is meticulously carved and painted, dressed in a multifold long robe. Her left foot is slightly forward in a tribhanga position, standing serenely above a multi-tiered lotus leaf pedestal in front of a large leaf-shaped aureole. Her left hand holds a jeweled mirror, and her right hand is in a blessing gesture (Anjali Mudra). The Bodhisattva is youthful and elegantly proportioned, wearing a delicate high crown, and her countenance radiates peace and compassion. The small zushi shrine is well-preserved, with tight hinges and a working locking mechanism. Delicate and sturdy, the Kannon zushi is well-preserved for home decor or meditation practices.
