A beautiful Tibetan silk painting circa 19th century, presented with fabric borders and orange shawl covering. The Thangka depicts the Universal Consciousness (Purusha ) as the Cosmic Man, connected by energy channels which flow between the system of chakras, centers of the transformation of mental energy into spiritual energy, and reaching the uppermost Sahasrara, as illustrated in a lotus petal symbolic form. With his hands opened in meditation to channelling pulsational energy in the grace charity gesture known as the Varada mudra, wearing only a simple yet vibrantly patterned dhoti around his lower body, showing numerous energy points with the avatars of Buddhas and sacred creatures, this painting depicts the body's energy channels, and the Kundalini energy shown as a coiled snake, which when awakened flow between the system of chakras, through an upward journey within the inner Self, that ultimately leads to the attainment of enlightenment or Buddhahood. The Chakra system rises from the base of the spine up to the top of the head. From the base chakra upwards, these vortexes are known as - Sahasrara Agnya Vishuddhi Anahat (Heart) Nabhi Swadhisthana Mooladhara
