A Chola style bronze molded through the lost-wax process, depicting one of the most revered of all Hindu deities, Krishna as a divine hero triumphing over the devious serpent Kaliya Naag. In lush detailing with rich ornamentation that integrated the fleshly figures, the countenance of Krishna is lucid with fortitude. He is seen here with right leg raised in perfect balance, his delicate left hand is gently holding the serpent tail, and offering an Abhaya mudra (protection) in his right hand. The solid bronze captured the sinuous strength and dynamism of Krishna in forms and spirit, beautifully illustrated the benevolent divine grace in a timeless symbol.
