This early 20th-century gilt gold bronze Buddha is a traditional depiction of the deity Shadakshari Lokeshvara, one of the many forms of Avalokiteshvara, the supreme compassion bodhisattva who stayed on earth to bring all beings into enlightenment. Well cast with delicate details, deeply incised fine hairlines, his principle hands in anjali mudra, one hand holds a lotus, the other a mala, seated in dhyanasana and wearing a diaphanous dhoti gathered in pleats with carved cloud motifs, necklaces and flowing scarves lending a deep symmetric harmony to the upright posture in full lotus. The four arms represent the four immeasurables: immeasurable loving kindness, immeasurable compassion, immeasurable joy and immeasurable equanimity. His face is in a serene expression framed by an elaborate crown. The statue is a luminous depiction of the Shadakahari and it's in excellent condition.
